Area Attractions & Things To Do!

Do you want to fish for Rainbow Trout in the Spring River? Catching your limit of rainbow trout is just a short walk or drive away. Many of our guests come to our hotel to fish, canoe, float, or kayak the Spring River. You can catch rainbow trout, large and small mouth bass, tiger musky, catfish, crappie, and many more in the nearby lakes and streams. The Thayer, MO and Mammoth Spring, AR areas are also huge attractions to hunters of deer, turkey, quail, squirrel, & rabbit.

The Mammoth Spring Lodge Hotel is located directly across the street from the Mammoth Spring State Park. The State park features Mammoth Spring, a tourist information center, large playground, National Fish Hatchery, walking trails, and a historic 1886 Frisco Depot museum. Located near the spring, the 1886 Frisco Depot will take you back in time to a bustling 1800's train depot. The Mammoth Spring Depot is one of only a few depots in the nation that have been restored as museums dedicated to interpreting their roles as train depots. Inside the depot, 13 full-scale lifelike figures portraying the train crew, depot crew, and train passengers help tell the story of Mammoth Springs' circa 1886 Frisco depot.

A National Natural Landmark, Mammoth Spring is Arkansas's largest spring and the second  largest spring in the Ozark Mountains. Mammoth Spring forms a 10-acre lake in the park, then flows southward as the Spring River, a popular trout and float stream. The spring is one of the largest in the world, pumping at an average rate of 9.78 million gallons of 58 degree water per hour.

Mammoth Spring has live music every Friday and Saturday night.  The city is home to the George D. Hay Foundation - "The solemn old Judge" - and was his inspiration for the Grand Ole Opry. If it's music you like there are many local theaters, indoor and outdoor; that offer a variety of Gospel, Country, Bluegrass, and folk music.

There are numerous antique shops and flea markets in Thayer, MO and Mammoth Spring, AR. Local crafters show their wares in annual and semi-annual craft shows. You may also purchase local crafts at the annual Dogwood days and fall festivals. In September you can attend the annual Old Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines Reunion at the Mammoth Spring State Park. Or, rev your engines! Mammoth Spring Lodge Hotel is located about twenty miles south of the West Plains Speedway; home of the " Show-Me 100."
